Projekt Meeting in Germany 26.-30.05.2010

After the trip

Gladis tells:

On Wednesday morning we went by minibus to Tallinn Airport. From there we departed to Munich. In Munich we had enough time for sightseeing in the centre of the town. I liked its old and big houses very much. There were also lots of people. After we had wandered around for some hours we boarded another plane for flying to Leipzig. When we had reached it, we were transferred to Delitszch and there we met our host families. Teachers stayed in a hotel. My host family was very friendly and I didn't have any communication problems with them. We chatted in the evening and after that I went to sleep because I was very tired of the flights. Next morning I went with my host Lina to school where we attended one lesson.

On Thursday we walked around Delitzsch and listened to mayor's speech. We had lunch in their school and after that we were taken by bus to Lakeland where we saw several lakes and listened to our guide. In the evening we had barbecue party.

On Friday morning we attended two lessons more together with our hosts and we had school lunch. After lunch it was time for presentations. I was nervous about it quite much, but afterwards I felt very ok. I think our presentation turned out well. In the evening my host family took me to Leipzig where we went sightseeing and shopping. On Saturday we visited Dresden which boasted with a beautiful old town and I could see horse carriages in the streets. There were also lots of people. After touring in Dresden we had some free time. We wandered around the town and had a meal in the cafe. When I was back at my host family, we spent some time there and went to a bowling club. We had so much fun there. I stayed up late and chatted with my host familyIn the morning we had breakfast all together again. I was glad to go home although I liked Germany very much. My host family took me to a museum which was very interesting and after that I said good-bye to Lina. Out of all towns we managed to visit, I liked Dresden best. It had the nicest old town. I was surprised that everybody was friendly with each other in the school, something I don't often see in Estonia. Everybody was so friendly and great. I made many friends and I liked this trip very much. I am grateful for the opportunity to travel and meet other people.

Sandra tells:

On our way from Tallinn to Munich we saw on the plane our Chancellor of the Exchequer Juhan Parts. When we had arrived Munich me and Gladis visited airport shops where we tested different perfumes. We also went all together sightseeing. After that we flew to Leipzig and from there by bus to Delitzsch and we were accommodated in families. I stayed with a very nice and friendly family. I could taste a raw meat dish there which was very tasty.

The next day I had to attend an English lesson where I was asked to speak about myself and Estonia. There were very many questions. I also made friends with my host's friends who were very excited to communicate in English. We took part in town tour which was organised by students and we also visited Lakeland - an area that used to have coal mines. Before that some of us went to a park, to the playground and we saw graduating students being dressed in colourful clothes. They also decorated their bikes. The next day we met the headmaster and gave presentation about making an eco brochure. I was quite jaded about the presentation, but I think I did well. We also visited Leipzig by bus and had lots of free time there. So we could visit a tower that belonged to Technical University and we could see the town well from there. On our last day we went to Dresden by bus and it took a couple of hours. Our guide talked rather silently but I enjoyed her enthusiastic and enthralling walking tour. As my feet were tired from lots of walking, me and Gladis had a long rest on the Opera House square by the enormous monument and we fell asleep there. I liked Dresden best for its posh old houses and churches. When we were back in Delitzsch my host family took me to a Greek restaurant. As I couldn't understand much of the menu, they ordered food for me. I could eat three different meat dishes, lamb meat included. I was said Greeks have a tradition to drink a shot of alcohol before and after every dinner. So I was given a shot of "children alcohol" as well although it tasted quite strong. After that we headed to a bowling club where we took lots of photos, watched Eurovision song contest. Departing was very sad and I said good-bye to everybody.

On Sunday morning my host and her father took me to the airfield and Porsche factory. I also saw wild horses. People were very friendly and I could experience new things and make new friends. I will miss everybody.

Richard tells:

In Munich we went sightseeing. We did a lot of walking. When me and Reino were interested mostly in technical stuff, then Gladis and Sandra liked shoe shops. Before heading back to the airport we managed to see famous Glockspiel in the tower of New Townhall. In Leipzig we met Birgit at the airport and went by bus to Delitzsch where our hosts were waiting for us. I was hosted by Tim who was good at English and very helpful. After I had managed to unpack my suitcase, we went to see football where I met Tim's friends. The next day we went to school. The students had prepared a walking town tour. After all of this we had some free time which we used to prepare for going to BBQ party. At the party everybody danced Macarena and other dances. We were entertained by several acts - gymnasists, dancers, singers. After the party me and Tim had to drive a few kilometres for getting back home. The next day we all met in the school again where we attended lessons. I visited Art and Music lesson. We were shown a great chemistry perfomance where they had fire and bangs and lots of different substances were mixed together to get effects. After this chemistry show we had a little break and then presentation time started. In the afternoon we went canoeing and shopping in Leipzig department store until we reached Alte Nikolaischule while being soaking wet. The next day we went sightseeing in Dresden. Me and Reino and others strolled around, had a meal at McDonald's and we also happened to see some sort of footall promotion event. When our spare time was spent, we went back to the bus. At home me and Tim took bikes and went to a bar where we could order drinks. Then we went all together to a bowling club. There we gave autographs to each other, took photos. I was sharing the last place on our track. We could also see Eurovision final show on tv. When Eurovision had finished, it was quite late. When leaving everybody said farewell. The next day was already our last day, but it was also the only day I could sleep at least till 10am. It was a great trip.

Reino tells:

On the plane me and Richard played with PSP to make time go faster. When we arrived in Munich, we had lots of free time between flights and we went to town by train. We did some shopping there. After that we went back to the airport by train and flew to Leipzig. From there we were escorted to Delitzsch where we were welcomed by our hosts. At "home" I unpacked my stuff and talked about myself. The next day we had town rally and after that barbecue party. At the party we were dancing and singing, eating and drinking. Me and Valentin danced Macarena and other dances and after the party we went back home. The next day we attended lessons in the school. I had an English lesson and Geography. After that we presented our project work. In the afternoon we left for Leipzig where we wandered around. In Leipzig me and Richard and our hosts went canoeing in the river and we saw muskrats. We had a race and eventually managed to bring victory to Estonia. After that - being wet from canoeing- we went to a department store. Soon Tim's mother picked us up and took us to a bar where we could talk about our day and then we drove back home. The next evening we went to play bowling. We shared autographs and watched Eurovision. After bowling and Eurovision had ended, we started to say good-bye. The last day was the only one when I could get a good rest and I slept till noon. When I eventually had woken up, I was taken to an Italian restaurant for lunch and after that we met teacher in the hotel, said farewell and left for the airport.
